چکیده

Oligodendroglial markers in the cuprizone model of CNS de-and remyelination. Mesenchymal stem cells do not exert direct beneficial effects on CNS remyelination in the absence of the peripheral immune system. Results of this thesis were presented in the following scientific meetings: Influence of mesenchymal stem cells on the remyelination process in the cuprizone murine model. Influence of mesenchymal stem cells on the remyelination process in the cuprizone murine model. in the toxic demyelinating cuprizone model. in the toxic demyelinating cuprizone model. in the toxic demyelinating cuprizone model. Effects of Murine and Human Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells on Cuprizone Induced Demyelination

For the treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis there are no regenerative approaches to enhance remyelination. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) have been proposed to exert such regenerative functions. Intravenous administration of human MSC reduced the clinical severity of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model mimicking some aspects of multiple sclerosis. However, i...

P 45: De- and Remyelination Affect Cognitive and Locomotor Abilities in Mice

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS) characterized by inflammatory and neurodegenerative processes. One of its pathophysiological hallmarks is demyelination, a consequence of oligodendroglial cell death leading supply shortfall and missing electrical insulation to axons. Demyelination induced consequences on neuronal network activity and subsequen...

Effect of Multiple Intraperitoneal Injections of Human Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells on Cuprizone Model of Multiple Sclerosis

Background: Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) elicit neuroprotective effects, and their repair ability has been investigated in different experimental models. We aimed to investigate the effect of multiple i.p. BM-MSCs injections in the cuprizone model of multiple sclerosis in mice. Methods: Adult male C57BL/6 mice (n = 40) were fed a regular diet or a diet containing cuprizone (0.2%...

Myelin Protection by Ursolic Acid in Cuprizone-Induced Demyelination in Mice

Neuronal survival in multiple sclerosis (MS) and other demyelinating diseases depends on the preservation of myelin and remyelination of axons. Myelin protection is the main purpose to decrease myelin damage in the central nervous system (CNS). Ursolic acid (UA) as a natural product in apple is suggested to protect neural cells. This study is the first to demonstrate an effect for UA on CNS mye...
